To enable the agreement and setting of acceptable standards for competence in endoscopic procedures and for endoscopy units, the JAG will provide an inclusive forum for informed discussion and debate, involving the key organisations responsible for providing and accrediting training and in service provision.
The JAG will provide clear and detailed standards, and frameworks within which to reach those criteria for certification and accreditation and reaccreditation.
To develop clearer governance and reporting structures to achieve a more transparent organisation for all key stakeholders and the service .
The JAG will be accountable to the constituent Royal Colleges and their respective Specialty Advisory Committees, and thence to PMETB, for all issues related to training, as mandated in its original constitution.
It will be accountable to the health services of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland as an accrediting group, for all issues related to service provision. It will provide thorough and effective quality assurance for endoscopy units, using trained and experienced assessors.
To ensure good engagement and currency, throughout all its dealings, the JAG will strive to be open and transparent, and to maintain good communication with all relevant organisations and individuals via its website, via email and other suitable means.
The JAG will be financially accountable to its constituent bodies. It will develop a value for money approach in all aspects of its working practices to maximise the return from the contributions and accreditation visit charges.
The JAG will develop its workforce to create a capable organisation that is fit for the future.
The JAG will quality manage all its dealings and systems to ensure continuous improvement in JAG operational processes.
To promote achievements and work nationally and internationally, in the interests of our stakeholders and the profession.
