Trainees should be registered with JAG at the commencement of their training and will be issued with a certificate acknowledging completion of training.
Any practitioner who undertakes gastrointestinal endoscopy should receive formal training in the principles and practice of safe endoscopy.
Endoscopy training should be provided within a multi-disciplinary service and in a JAG Certified Unit, according to the GRS Standards Training Domain.
It is recommended that all trainees should register with the JAG and JETS e-Portfolio.
Training should consist of protected, personalised, in-service teaching, and attendance at JAG Certified courses. Trainees are expected to develop their knowledge and skills through continuing medical education and professional development in endoscopy.
The e-Portfolio is currently rolling out across Trusts in England. This will allow Trainees to document their training and complete their DOPS assessments. Trainees in all Regions should look at the Training Newsletter for the most up to date information regarding roll out.
To complete electronic DOPS Forms, please use the JETS e-Portfolio. Where the e-Portfolio is not yet available, guidelines for Trainee Certification and DOPS Forms are available below.
Please note that the JAG have currently ceased certification on Therapeutic procedures. For further information and updates, please refer to the Latest News.
