Therefore, the key individual in endoscopy training in the UK is the independent endoscopist trainer. The training leads and centres have vital and complementary roles in setting standards, developing training, modelling and disseminating best practice, as well as delivering high quality courses.

Trainers should be familiar with the training domain GRS, the e-Portfolio and should consider undertaking an endoscopic Train the Trainers course.
