JAG visits are conducted using 3 JAG assessors and consist of a one day visit to each endoscopy unit. Where a Trust has two units to be JAG certified a two day visit would take place. The assessors are:
- Training Lead: Lead visitor and reports on Quality (audits) and Training provision)
- Nurse Lead: reports on Workforce, Environment and Decontamination)
- SHA or Clinical Lead: reports on unit waiting times and Quality (audits)
The JAG has a team of over 35 highly trained assessors on its books. These are contracted to perform a minimum of 3 or 4 certification visits per year. The JAG has published new updated Guidelines for its Assessors (August 2009). This provides in detail what we expect from our Assessors and what they will receive in return.
The JAG has a structured training and quality assurance programme in place for all Assessors. The quality assurance programme ensures consistency in accreditation visits and in the performance of all Assessors.
