Training events

JAG holds a number of training days each year to support services in gaining accreditation. Training days are only open to members of staff working for a service registered with JAG.

Stage one: GRS training day

This one day event has been specifically designed to meet endoscopy services who are new to the GRS and want to know how to achieve the standards. This exciting workshop will equip delegates with the knowledge that they will need to update and improve their GRS. Delegates will leave the day better equipped to achieve sustainable GRS service improvements.

Who should attend this day?

  • Doctors, nurses and unit managers who are new to the GRS, standards and accreditation process, and would like more information on the GRS standards and how to achieve a JAG compliant service.
  • Individuals with experience of the GRS, standards and/or accreditation process should attend the stage two training day.

Stage two: How to prepare for your JAG accreditation day

This one day event will assist units in preparing their teams for the submission of evidence ahead of their JAG assessment in order to ensure the best possible outcome. During the training day, a team of JAG lead assessors will discuss the key areas that units find challenging, and explain how they can overcome these issues. Attendees will be lead through JAG's online checklist, which is the main tool for data submission, and assist units in preparing for their JAG assessment.

Who should attend this day?

  • Doctors, nurses and unit managers who are actively involved in the delivery of the clinical service and who will be responsible for preparing for the JAG assessment. It is strongly advised that the clinical, nursing and managerial leads attend the day as a team.
  • Individuals who currently do not work in a JAG accredited service but are close to booking an assessment, or who work in a JAG accredited service which is coming up to a reaccreditation assessment.
  • Individuals with no experience of the GRS, standards and/or accreditation process should attend the stage one training day.

Feedback from attendees

“Attending [the] JAG preparation training day helped me to understand all the key elements needed for accreditation and how much evidence needs to be collected, as well as how to prepare the team to face the day.”

“Excellent training day. Have learned a lot and feel a lot more confident to go back and share knowledge. Feel extremely motivated.”

"Very well presented and very informative. Although much is expected of an organisation to be awarded accreditation, it’s nice to know [JAG is] there to support and want[s] organisations to pass and not looking at how to fail. This course would be good for all the roles involved in the running of a unit."

"This day should be a requirement for all endoscopy units working towards JAG accreditation to attend as [it] explains the processes and requirements needed to complete."
