The Joint Advisory Group on GI Endoscopy (JAG) has published its latest annual report, showcasing another year of progress across accreditation, training and data programmes. The report highlights key achievements from 2025 and demonstrates how JAG continues to support high-quality endoscopy services across the UK and Republic of Ireland.

Key statistics

Below are some key statistics to provide an insight to the work achieved across JAG in 2025:

• 519 services across UK and Ireland are now JAG-registered, of which 238 are accredited. In 2025, JAG undertook 56 site assessments, with 18 services awarded accreditation for the first time and 38 services successfully achieving reaccreditation.
• There are now 715 registered bowel cancer screeners across the UK, an increase of 9.7% from 2024, with 63 endoscopists successfully gaining accreditation in 2025.
• More than 15 million procedures have now been uploaded to NED. In 2025 more than 2.3 million procedures were uploaded, representing an increase of 8.2% on the previous year.
• The JAG accreditation assessment team now includes 112 assessors spread across the medical, nursing, management and lay assessor staffing modalities.
• 687 individuals gained JETS certification in at least one endoscopic modality, while 1,735 delegates attended ENDO courses. The JETS Workforce programme now supports more than 10,000 users across more than 500 units.
• JAG is progressing well against its three-year development plan: of 81 projects, 22 have been completed. The remaining projects are in progress or not yet started.

JAG was established in 1994, under the auspices of the Academy of Royal Medical Colleges. JAG is a clinically led, independent endoscopy stakeholder organisation, hosted by the RCP but representing many organisations. JAG acts an independent voice for all endoscopy delivered in the UK and the Republic of Ireland, supporting the endoscopy community in the delivery of high-quality endoscopy. For the service it means a sense of pride in being able to show that they offer a high quality and safe service.

JAG are delighted to release the 2025 annual report that gives perspective both on how we work to standardise and ensure quality in endoscopy training and how best we can improve future development in endoscopy. We hope and ask that the report will be shared widely within the endoscopy community and across our stakeholders, as we continue to strive provide to delivering high quality, patient-centred care.
