JAG adult accreditation UK standards launch (2025)
5 August 2025

JAG are launching the new and revised standards for adult service accreditation. The standards are available to view now on the JAG website and applicable for UK services.

The JAG accreditation programme aims to support services in improving the quality of the service that they provide to patients and staff using the structured framework of the adult GRS. This is achieved through a fair and consistent approach of assessing, to ensure services are supported to achieve accreditation where possible.

Any additions to the adult GRS standards will be appropriate and achievable for services. Ensuring that quality improvement continues to be at the centre of all the work we ask services to undertake, while working to make them aspiring but realistic and attainable.

Key information:

From 1 October 2025, services in the UK will be able to open a self-assessment on the JAG website and work towards achieving accreditation following the new adult standards.

The new adult standards retain the same high-quality and standards as the current standards, but have been streamlined to reduce duplication and support services working towards accreditation.

From January 2026, only assessments requested on the new standards will be approved. If your service has been working towards achieving accreditation on the current standards, you have until 31 December 2025 to submit for an assessment.

The new standards for services in the Republic of Ireland will launch later in 2025.
