New guidance for services which use insourcing providers
5 December 2019

The use of endoscopy insourcing has increased in recent years and is largely used to secure extra clinical capacity to meet increasing endoscopy demand and to clear waiting list backlogs. JAG has produced new guidance which provides clear requirements to ensure that the commissioning, governance and operational arrangements are safe and effective for patients who have a procedure performed by an insourcing provider.

Services should implement the new guidance now, but there will be flexibility until 1 June 2020.  For accreditation assessments, JAG expects the evidence listed to be provided (but with above flexibility). For accredited services undertaking annual reviews, JAG expects a completed checklist to be uploaded.

The new guidance can be downloaded from the JAG website.
