The upcoming JAG census is an important event for the UK's endoscopy services. On Saturday, 1 April 2023, the census will be distributed to all services across the country, providing comprehensive questions on various aspects of workload, infrastructure, and workforce. Through this census, we aim to gain valuable insights into the state of endoscopy services in the UK and identify the challenges that are being faced.
We had the opportunity to speak with Matt Rutter, the chair of JAG, to learn more about this upcoming census, and this is what he had to say:
'The JAG census is an invaluable tool for assessing the state of endoscopy services in the UK. By providing critical information and data, the census helps stakeholder organisations and governments understand the current and future needs of endoscopy services. The most recent 2021 Biennial Census published in BMJ Frontline Gastroenterology had almost 80% response rate, highlighting its significance in improving endoscopy quality.
Through the census, we gain insights into areas where services are under pressure and where they are excelling, allowing us to better understand how services adapt to demand and the impact of national efforts towards efficiency and sustainability. As we approach the 2023 JAG census, it presents an opportunity to further benchmark the progress and challenges faced by endoscopy services.
Completing the census is crucial for JAG registered services, as it provides a vital insight into the current state of services, helping us understand the needs of our GI endoscopist and service resources. We urge all JAG registered services to participate in the upcoming census, so we can continue to provide the necessary support and improvements for endoscopy services in the UK. The JAG team thanks you in anticipation of your participation in the census.'
We look forward to your support in completing the census. If you have any questions, please contact the JAG team.
