Volunteers needed for patient review of ENDO1
27 September 2023

JETS Workforce is looking for enthusiastic and experience endoscopy patients or people with lived experience of an endoscopy procedure to review course material for part of its endoscopy workforce training programmme. JETS Workforce is a training programme that sits under the JAG (Joint Advisory Group on Endoscopy) and provides the endoscopy workforce with a structured approach to training, assessments, and appraisals. The programme launched in April 2019 and replaced the Gastrointestinal Endoscopy for Nurses (GIN) platform. JETS Workforce is designed to be used by current and new endoscopy staff irrespective of grade and title, and can be used to support the NMC and similar revalidation processes.

The ENDO 1 course is part of the JETS training programme and from October 2024 it will be a requirement for all accredited services to have 10% of their workforce complete ENDO 1. The ENDO1 course covers content including professional issues in endoscopy, consent, pre assessment, infection control, patient centred care, improving safety in endoscopy, and endoscopy decontamination.

The course was initially run face to face but moved to a virtual format in 2020 following the pandemic. While many of the principles and guidelines remain the same, we want to ensure we are providing up-to-date and engaging training for endoscopy workforce members. The review of the course slideset forms a central part of this.
