Lindsey is a consultant nurse at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust. She will be working on JETS Workforce programme. Lindsey will work closely with the JAG office team and JAG stakeholders to develop our JETS Workforce programme.
Lindsey began her career as an auxiliary nurse, which is now known as an HCA. Lindsey studied at the open University of Cumbria, taking a secondment while working. She also has a master’s in advanced nursing practice. Lindsey worked at East Lancashire NHS trust and is currently based at University Hospital Morecambe Bay. She began working in endoscopy after becoming a registered nurse. Experienced in her practice, Lindsey has worked as a clinical lead for endoscopy services. As a senior nurse endoscopist, she has developed the clinical endoscopy cohort at her trust.
Lindsey was previously chair of the BSG nursing department. Proud of her achievements as a nurse consultant within gastroenterology, Lindsey enjoys how diverse her work is and likes working with a range of people. When asked what drew Lindsey to endoscopy, she responded that it was due to the autonomy that comes with the work. Passionate about the work that nurses do, Lindsey is extremely proud of the clinical knowledge that nurses have.
“Endoscopy services are predominantly nurse-led; clinical knowledge underpins everything.”
Lindsey feels that nurses need recognition for the work that they do in endoscopy, which is central to the JETS Workforce. She learnt a lot about the mechanisms of an endoscopy service during the Covid-19 pandemic and is looking forward to the therapeutic services growing with endoscopy and for safety and quality to continue to be enhanced. Thinking towards her new role as JETS Workforce clinical lead, Lindsey is looking forward to building upon the amazing work that Phedra Dodds, previous JETS Workforce clinical lead, has achieved.
“JETS workforce has provided much needed focus and structure for a substantial part of our endoscopy workforce and as clinical lead I'm looking forward to building upon the great work that has already been done over the last couple of years”.
Lindsey said that she is proud of the work that JETS Workforce has achieved and is excited to be part of the team.
